Chronicling the Murder Rates of American Cities
Daniel Nass of The Trace writes about AmericanViolence.org, a new site from NYU Sociology's Patrick Sharkey and the Marron Institute:
...innumeracy about violent crime has long plagued policy discussions and news reporting, and that public ignorance is exactly what NYU sociology professor Patrick Sharkey wants to combat with a new online tool. American Violence, developed by Sharkey and a team of social scientists, is an online portal that enables readers to easily explore murder rates and trends in U.S. cities by culling the most up-to-date data from reliable local sources.
