How to Have Less Crime and Less Punishment
Conversations on Urbanization: Mark Kleiman & Paul Romer
by
Brandon Fuller
The Litmus program hosted the Family Unity Convening, a two-day gathering of artists, researchers, policy advocates, practitioners, and justice-impacted people, with support from Arnold Ventures, to assess expanding alternatives to incarceration and reentry programs. Sessions were designed to stimulate discussion about what a non-carceral approach to public safety centered on the well-being of children, families, and communities could look like, and how federal investments could support community-based efforts to help and heal those who have been most impacted by the intergenerational effects of incarceration on health and wealth. A white paper will be produced, drawing upon this dialogue, to inform the field and suggest future directions for policymakers.
