Litmus Hosts an Alternatives to Incarceration
Convening in Tennessee
The Litmus program’s Family-Based Justice Center (FBJC) hosted a convening in Chattanooga on alternatives to incarceration for parents and caregivers, bringing together researchers, practitioners, and people with lived experience to review the latest research findings, share information on data collection and analysis, and introduce programming details and research plans of several partner sites that Litmus is supporting through the FBJC. The literature reviewed at the conference revealed limited research and mixed findings on alternatives to incarceration, underscoring a pressing need to design and test new approaches to address the profound challenges these families face.
