Litmus Awarded Funding From OJJDP

(The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention)

The short- and long-term effects of separation due to incarceration can be devastating to parents and children, with long-lasting harm to families and communities. Family-based alternative-sentencing programs allow families to remain united while caregivers serve their sentences in the community, yet only six states currently offer these sentencing alternatives. The Litmus team has been awarded funding from OJJDP to operate the Family-Based Alternative Sentencing Training and Technical Assistance Center, with a data-driven approach to helping states and localities support families and avoid the harms of incarceration while improving public safety.
