There’s so many good books written about in this area it’s hard to pick, so I decided to prioritize a personal relationship starting with your late friend and mine, Mark Kleiman, who wrote a book called Drugs and Drug Policy: What Everyone Needs to Know, co-authored with Jonathan Caulkins and Angela Hawken, and it is exactly what the title promises—it’s accessible, it’s something you can dip into and out of and answer any question you want, and I also point to it as just a model of how academics in any area can write in such a fashion that a broad audience can engage their work and learn from it.
