Obama Faces Heroin and Opiate Epidemic
Mark Kleiman a professor at New York University's Marron Institute, as well as editor of the Journal of Drug Policy Analysis, joined The Takeaway to discuss the larger issues of dealing with the opiate epidemic, and whether the Obama administration is doing enough to tackle it.
"We should be worried about overperscribing, but we should also be worried about teaching physicians to do opiate percriptions correctly."
Professor Kleiman was joined by Steven Descouteaux, a physician at Opiatecare, a suboxone clinic in Norton, Massachusetts, who discussed the moral dilemmas of prescribing opiates, and if the new rules will change his practice.
