Director of Transportation and Land-Use, Eric Goldwyn, and Senior Fellow Alain Bertaud are quoted in Il Foglio on the redesign of New York City 20 years after September 11. (Translated from Italian):
“[T]wenty years ago, the complex did not offer all these possibilities,” Goldwyn and Bertaud agree. “It was a closed super-block, a square without trees, and the streets slammed into it at a dead end. Now, however, it has resumed communicating with the surrounding urban fabric: It is a green, pedestrian area, the fulcrum of a large transit hub with a shopping center with an international flavor.”
