Transit Costs Project Releases
New York Case and Final Project Report
The Transportation and Land-Use program released The New York Case and Transit Costs Project Final Report, presenting findings and recommendations from its case work on the cost drivers of transit projects in the United States over the last five years. The group makes recommendations to improve project delivery and reduce costs, focusing on politics and decisionmaking, civil service and internal capacity, procurement and risk, utilities and agency coordination, labor, and cost-effective design. All of these recommendations are grounded in what they found in their case studies of low-cost projects in Sweden, Turkey, and Italy, and additional research in France, Spain, Chile, Germany, and Finland.
