Marron Team Awarded Funding from Build Baton Rouge
for Community Redevelopment Project in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Senior Fellow Clayton Gillette and Assistant Research Scholar Manny Patole have been awarded funding from Build Baton Rouge (BBR), the redevelopment authority of East Baton Rouge Parish, for their project, Plank Road Community Land Trust/Bank. Co-City Baton Rouge (CCBR) is an applied-research partnership between NYU Marron and LABoratory for the GOVernance of the City as a Commons (LabGov), based at Georgetown University. This partnership supports the development of collaborative and cooperative self-governing institutions through community-engagement methods to advance economic revitalization in the Plank Road Corridor of Baton Rouge. Funding for this project will provide program support of the ongoing collaboration with CCBR and the establishment of a community land trust/bank (CLT/B) to preserve long-term housing affordability, availability, and quality, while creating an institution that facilitates community capacity for self-governance and control of land and resources.
