Senior Research Scholars Sandy Mullins and Jonathan Kulick, along with Peggy Carey of DeKalb County (Ill.) Court Services, conducted a workshop, “Reefer Madness: Responding to Marijuana Use When Marijuana Is Legal,” at the American Probation and Parole Association 2022 Winter Training Institute in Atlanta. The session addressed community supervision in a rapidly changing—and often confusing—environment of legalization of marijuana for medical and recreational use. The workshop considered whether and how to allow for marijuana use by persons on probation and parole, from legal, case-management, and public-health perspectives.
