Kevin Cromar Delivers Talk on Health Inequality
Hosted by the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF)
Director of Health, Environment, and Policy, Kevin Cromar, recently gave a talk hosted by EDF as part of their ongoing series on health inequality. He focused on addressing environmental justice through federal air-quality standards, with detailed suggestions on how the structure of federal standards can better address disproportionate health impacts in pollution hot spots. While implementation is not directly considered by the U.S. EPA in established federal air-quality guidelines, Cromar stressed the importance of new regulatory monitoring and illuminated how local jurisdictions prepare and implement state implementation plans. The Health, Environment, and Policy program is deeply engaged in the ongoing review of the National Ambient Air Quality Standards for fine particulate matter and will provides scientific support for more health-protective standards.
