NYC has tech to speed up buses

but politics and red tape slow rollout

Fellow Alon Levy's discusssion with Polly Trottenberg, NYC Department of Transportation Commissioner, on ideas for speeding up bus service is quoted in a New York Daily News article on transit signal priority (TSP). Levi states:

This is not a new technology, which is to say it’s been around since the 2000s and was picked up by New York in the following decade. The main issue is actually wrestling control of streets from cars, that a car might have to wait longer at a red light.
