Fellow Alon Levy was interviewed on Global News Morning Toronto on how the city’s public transit stacks up against other systems around the world. Levy offered several solutions for the problems plaguing Toronto’s bus system:
For delays on the TTC, there is this problem, with for example, buses. When the buses are supposed to come every five minutes, but in instead of seeing a bus every five minutes, you see three buses every fifteen, this is a matter of unstable schedules, which you can resolve with hiring more dispatchers, giving the buses dedicated lanes, priority at stoplights, and making sure people can board the bus from any direction. If you have a monthly pass you should not need to tap your card. All these things will make the buses more reliable.
