“After Hours with Jamie Rubin: A Conversation with Ed Glaeser” mentions the Transportation and Land Use program:
We do know a fair amount about the procurement of the really expensive things that New York does, like transit projects, and the available evidence suggests that America is just terrible at doing transit. My source on this is NYU’s Transit Cost Database, which gives us that the average cost per mile for an underground transit project is four times higher in the U.S. than in the rest of the world, and that New York City is the capital of absurdly expensive infrastructure, like the 7 billion per mile East Side Access Project.
