Tina Chiu

Biography

Tina Chiu is a Research Scholar in the SCALE + Lab at NYU Marron. The SCALE + Lab is an action-oriented, collaborative platform for building sustained growth and impact of interventions that advance safety, health, and economic mobility.

Before joining Marron, Tina served in the NYC Mayor’s Office of Community Mental Health as the deputy director for research and performance management and helped launch B-HEARD, the City’s multi-agency mental health 911 pilot program. She previously served as the deputy director for performance management in the NYC Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice and in the NYC Mayor’s Office of Operations, where she led the development and launch of the HOME-STAT street homelessness initiative. Prior to working in city government, Tina was the director of technical assistance at the Vera Institute of Justice and headed up its cost-benefit analysis unit.

Tina has an M.S. in urban planning from Columbia University and an M.A. in the history and philosophy of science from the University of Chicago. She earned her B.A. in liberal arts from St. John’s College. She volunteers with the American Red Cross Greater New York Region at its Emergency Communications Center.
