Biography
Rachel Kim is a Fellow in the Transportation and Land-Use program of the NYU Marron Institute and a PhD Candidate in Sociology at Harvard University. Using interviews and archival research, her dissertation investigates the political conditions under which rail extensions succeed or fail in the San Francisco Bay Area, with a particular focus on Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA). Rachel received a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Chicago in 2019 and was born and raised in the Atlanta, Georgia suburbs.
