The Urban Expansion program has been working with Fedesarrollo, a Colombian think tank, to identify land-use deficiencies and territorial-planning policies in Colombia. This project proposes alternative legislative reform for the execution of climate-sensitive land-use policies and regulations.

Join us on June 10 at 3:00 p.m. EDT, when Director of Urban Expansion, Solly Angel, Research Scholar Patrick Lamson-Hall, Program Scholar Maria Mónica Salazar Tamayo, and Fedesarrollo partners will present the initial results from the Colombian Atlas of Urban Expansion for 2021 for 61 municipalities and how they differ from the Atlas of Colombian Expansion for 2017. In addition, the vice minister of the environment will discuss Colombia’s achievements on its nationally determined contributions (NDC), and the vice-minister of housing will discuss land-use regulations for climate-sensitive planning. The discussion will primarily be in Spanish, but the event recording will include English and Spanish closed captioning.
