The work of Marron Institute Research Scholar Alain Bertaud forms the basis of a recent article on interest.co.nz that argues against the over-designing of urban centers.
Urban planners should restrict their work to delineating between private and public spaces. The rest should be left to the market to determine whether to build up, out, or both. It would make for better and more liveable cities that work.
