The Transportation and Land Use program, led by Director Eric Goldwyn, has released two reports:
Momentum: Fellow Nolan Hick pairs electrification and other components to develop a high-throughput infrastructure framework, which slashes time off of existing commuter and intercity rail services. This report is profiled in Bloomberg CityLab and Newsday.
MTA Capital Investments Analysis: The team analyzes the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s [MTA] capital investments between 2000 and 2024, in collaboration with Reinvent Albany. They found that in the five capital plans, the MTA has spent or will spend $194 billion. As expected, they also found that capital spending is far higher per commuter-rail rider than NYC subway or bus rider. Reinvent Albany provided testimony to the MTA board. The study is featured in Newsday (and here) and Streetsblog NYC.
