Professor Kevin Cromar, Director of Marron's Air Quality program, recently testified before the New York City Council's Committee on Finance regarding the health benefits of replacing the city's heavy-duty diesel fleet with alternatives such as vehicles using natural gas powered engines:
Conversion of the heavy-duty diesel fleet in New York to cleaner alternatives is the lowest hanging fruit available to the city council in reducing the adverse health risks from air pollution in our city, particularly for those most vulnerable to its impacts.
Cromar's testimony comes on the heals of his work with Energy Vision on a recent report on the benefits of phasing out New York City's heavy-duty diesel fleet.
