Director of Health, Environment, and Policy, Kevin Cromar, provided oral testimony at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s hearing on the interim final rule extending compliance deadlines under the 2024 oil and gas methane standards. He emphasized that the EPA’s core mandate under the Clean Air Act is to protect public health and welfare, not to maximize short-term economic gains. Drawing on his experience on the Utah Air Quality Board, Cromar underscored that timely implementation of methane controls offers the most cost-effective way to reduce climate and health impacts from the oil and gas sector.
