Director of Health, Environment, and Policy, Kevin Cromar, and his team presented an analysis of air-quality-management practices to local-government officials in Quito, including the Secretary of Health and Secretary for the Environment. The report positively evaluates their air-quality-monitoring network and details epidemiological studies on pollutants of concern for public health. It also provides recommendations for improving risk communication, including evaluating the use of risk-communication tools by local populations and reevaluating the underlying calculations that are provided to the public. The local officials will implement these recommendations, supported by the Marron team in collaboration with colleagues, with the supporting consortium funded by the NASA Health and Air Quality Applied Science Team (HAQAST).
