Transportation and Land-Use Program
Receives Support From Arnold Ventures
The Transportation and Land-Use program will begin a project, “Policy-Relevant Research on Critical Issues Relating to U.S. Transportation Infrastructure,” with support from Arnold Ventures. An area of particular interest to the program is how to bring high-speed rail to the United States for a fraction of current cost estimates, which routinely eclipse $100 billion for the Northeast Corridor alone. High-speed rail provides an opportunity for people to travel more equitably, sustainably, and productively. A report of best practices will explain how federal infrastructure spending can build high-speed rail along the Northeast Corridor and achieve travel times under two hours between DC and New York and between New York and Boston.
