Innovations for Successful Societies

+ Brandon Fuller

Princeton’s Innovations for Successful Societies (ISS) program focuses on reform, profiling key policy players and their efforts to improve government. We recently had the chance to visit the ISS team and learn a bit about their rigorous approach to case writing. It’s an approach that generates high-quality, well-written cases — all of which are available online.

The following cases are good places to start but feel free to take a look for yourself:

José Mariano Beltrame’s development of the Peace Police Unit to provide continuous police presence in Rio’s favelas  |  Sergio Fajardo’s efforts to turn around Medellín by busting up clientelism, introducing transparency, and improving public services and tax collection  |  Mikheil Saakashvili’s efforts to wipe out police corruption in Georgia and build a new force from scratch.
